RIP '94 Bonneville
Talk about bad luck, 3d car wreck in our family in the past 2 months; two of them were totalled! This time it was the '94 Bonneville with a mere 230k on it!
We gave our 19 year old son our '94 Bonneville for work and college. The car has been great for us. We bought it in 1996 with 85k on it. Must have been owned by a salesperson; how do you put 85k on a car in 2 years? Anyway, the car has been darn near flawless. We did rebuild transmission at 150k but the engine has never had serious work (water pump, belts, minor stuff!).
He fell asleep at the wheel and hit a mailbox and went into a ditch but thank God was unharmed. Car is totalled. We got our money'* worth out of it. I'm telling you, the 3800 is an AWESOME engine! Very reliable. He is now driving our '97 Bonneville today. We'll probably "loan" it to him on a permanent basis for work and school. I know the car will serve him well.
If you have a kid who drives, consider an older Bonneville. These cars are extremely reliable and safe. But I'm guessing most of you here already know this.

You'll have to bear with us.. Vital'* drug test came back "pending"
Glad to hear another crash story where the car kept everyone safe. The 97 should serve him well.
Any ideas what you are replacing it with?

Vital - Actually, as an April Fool'* joke, I did tell him on Sunday that he was going to "have to drive the Firehawk!" (Would you let a teen drive yours?)
To anwer the question about a replacement: I'm getting a '95 TA back from the shop after a 2 year restoration. Complete paint job and repair. It will be ready next Monday so that will have to do as my new "Daily Driver." Wife gets the '02 Bonneville since she wrecked her Buick in February. Too many wrecks in our home! Sigh....

Well, superstitious types do say that bad things come in threes, not that we believe them.
Anyway, I'm glad he'* OK. This is just one more example of how well these cars protect the occupants during a wreck. Sorry your son had to learn such a tough lesson about driving while over-tired.
And Bill, I would guess they already own the replacement.

I drive a Bonneville now due to a wreck (I was totalled by a pickup in my old 94 Roadmaster Limited), and the Bonneville'* great crash rating. Not to mention a little boost to make sure nobody can catch me to hit me.
I now own 2, so I'm twice as safe. And neither are white, so that'* a bonus.
