Exhaust help
Say I were to get my muffler soon and didn't have the money to get the whole exhaust. My pipe is rusty, but doesn't have holes or anything. Should I cut off my old muffler and hook the new one up the the existing pipe, or should I wait till I can afford a new pipe? Also would painting my old pipe keep it from developing holes?
Also what size is the 1994 N/A exhaust pipe? 2 1/2 "?
Thanks,
Dan

Painting it wont do anything, the rust is still under there. don't change the diameter of the pipe either, you'll lose too much backpressure. My pipe is kinda rusted, but it holds together fine.

At this point, if any rust has developed I would wait. You will be much happier in the long run to do the whole system together. Then up can upgrade to high grade stainless steel components and never worry about rust anymore
I believe the diameter is 2.25 or 2.5"...when you upgrade...keep it at that diameter, or you will look HP and TQ due to loss in backpressure.

I plan to keep the diameter the same. I just dont know what the stock diameter is. I figured my good buddies here at the club would be able to assist me on that one. As for my rust pipe I will hook my muffler up in a way that when I do have to replace the pipe the muffler will come off easy and go on the new pipe.

The pipe we have on there is perfect for us, a 2.25 mandrel bent piping. Buying full mandrel bent piping is not cheap, and if funds are low, i'd say use the stock pipe. I'm sure it'* got plenty of years left in it.

Gonna be tough unless you know of a place that has Bonne exhausts pre made.
I had an old truck that needed some new pipe (tore off the cherry bomb the previous owner had installed). Took me forever to find a shop that would bend it without the vehicle there. Even with the original as a guide.
Good luck, though.

I checked into autozone and the sell the stock pipes for 89 bucks. I am waiting till I get holes before I spend that. However I want extra flow now so I will hopefully be replacing my muffler with a higher flowing one soon. I plan to order my tranny cooler, msd wires, or my muffler this week, what ever I have the money for come my fiances payday.

Well, I was watching those Power Block shows on Spike TV and I saw they used these really nice Flowmaster clamps to install an entirely new exhaust in a Ram (musta been Trucks I was watching). The looked to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch across and and damn near bullet proof.
If you get the muffler in for now, I'd look for some o' them. That way you don't end up with just some crappy U Bolts, or welds you'll have to try and cut later without trashing the new muffler.
