my car is missing the cover, so I don't kn ow it it'* padded. But there is 4 or 5 orgenage holes or connectors. Your answer would explain the lack of info on this. The owner manual shows it in the instrument panel but doesn't identify it.

It'* for the passenger ejection seat! Obviously it was used once in your car....probably on the ex girlfriend or wife! better replace it just in case you need it some day! lol

yes, that triangular piece is just a rubber pd to prevent the keys from scratching the dashboard.. the holes are where the piece would snap into the dash board..
