Tire Choice -- with pics
I had a flat this morning so I pulled off the tire...
Closer... The Steel bands are sticking through, plus there'* so many holes, no patch job will fix that.
Remaining tires:
I have two Republic Ensign'* (never heard of 'em) in the front which are good, and I had two Goodyear Regetta'* on the back... now only 1 remains...
Front, both brand new when I bought my car in May...Republic Ensign'* [Front]
Rear, both pretty crappy, this is the remaining Goodyear bald tire.[Rear driver side] (but still not as bad as the one I took off.
Poor baby....
It looks like the spare is brand new and has never been used... Thats a good thing
So I called wal-mart for P225 60 R16'* ... I need 2.
They said that have Douglas X-Trac II and Goodyear Long Tourings
I am leaning towards the Douglas'* because I am getting 2... which set would you choose and why?

price differance?
Xtra-trac is a cheap tire, and if they havent changed it, it has a pretty agressive tread pattern. I would go with the touring.

I used the Douglass Touring Tires till they discontinued them... I loved them... Douglass seems to be a decent tire

you look like you're in need of an alignment!! Jees!
Have to go with Walmart? Oh well. I recommend the Douglas' tires. Otherwise I'd go with something from tire rack...like 4 tripletreds

I bought the car used 9 months ago and those Goodyear'* that were/are on the rear looked like they had studs in them, but the car drives straight and well now... the owners before me must have had a bad alignment at some point.

Unless you bought it with the tires in that condition you should have the alignment re-checked. Alls it takes is a good pot hole to throw it off.
I like touring tires over standard passengers. The uniroyal Tiger Paws (bought out by Michelin) on my car now are the best I ever had. Previously had Eagle GA'* that ended up dry rotting.

From the first picture it looks like the tire belts failed which would let that spot bulge out and wear the tread out. My guess is the rest of the tread on that side of the car is ok. It should have been a pretty bumpy ride at highway speeds.
It don't see a real difference in those tires if that is your budget.
Check your tires more often...

Yeah i drive 50 miles to school and back everyday and yes it had gotten a little more bumpy...a little vibration but i think it happened so gradually i must have thought nothing of it.
