Are GXP head lights any different from any other 00+ head lights?

yes

they are "darker".....instead of the sheid on the headlight bulbs being chrome they are black/smoke...

this gives the appearance of a darker light....there was a thread on this a while back

I'm 99% sure that'* only on the '05 GXP'* that the lenses are darker. Correct me if I'm wrong, though...

also, i am led to believe that the inner mounting point is different, instead of a ball and socket mount, it uses a barbed clip

So, Toast, you don't think the GXP light would work in my 01? :? I was hoping to change my lights out to GXP smoke if I could. If not, stock will do nicely.

Is that because of the different bumper/air dam on the 04/05'* in general?

there was a redesign, i believe because the ball and socket would get really stuck and sometimes the lights are nearly impossible to get loose. It is my theory that the lights will interchange, however, you will just have to remove the female side of the retainer to allow the new style clip to be installed.

NOTE: this is all just deduction, and unconfirmed. please use the information above with caution.
