Default Busted for tint

Well even w/ 35 % tint on the sides i got busted. LAst night i was parked under some trees and it was semi dark out and the cop gave me a warning and 10 days to remove the tint, thenI ahve to see a local police station to show i removed my front tint. I guess it could of been worse i dont have tO take it all off. BUt it still makes me mad that i just got it done and of all things its only 35 % arghh

The cop told me 10 days but the warning says 5, so im gonna go w/ what the paper says.

???? FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN MY POSITION. If i got my car retinted later and got busted by a different cop would he know i was warned b4 ?? also ( im going to ask the cop this when i see him) After a year is this warning erased from my record ??? so that after a year i can tint it again? without getting fined....

Over all the cop was nice. and while we were talking he said if i want to see the magstrate to show how light it is i can, but then i could face a fine. So i just took the warning

Up here in Edmonton you can't have the front side windows tinted at all! The rear windows are fine though! That'* why I'm going for the limo tint on the rear windows and lightest possible tint for the 2 front side windows! BTW: I've been stalked by the cops before for tinting! :? This was last summer for a tinted license plate cover It had 5 coats of liquid tint on it! I just got a warning & had to remove the cover on the spot!

Every state and province (Canada) has a different way of enforcing tint regulations. in British Columbia Canada it is the actual plastic film they made illegal "due to safety reasons”. They thought they were smart until guys started chemically tinting windows. From what I understand in Kali it’* the actual ability to see through the window that the law is based on. I guess my point is find out exactly what makes it illegal there may be a way to be cool and legal.

That'* how it is here in Ontario, too. I think the actual legal tint here is like 30% or 35%.
I have 15% all around and i've never been bothered. I even have coloured fog lots and some Parks guy mentioned to me that it'* illegal, but I've never been bothered about it.

Minnesota has the same sort of law. I think the limit for front windows is 50%, but i might be off. Some officers carry a device in their cruisers that measures the transparency of glass; if it reports that less than 50% (for example) of light can get through your window, you can be cited.

There'* an obscure loophole in the law: If an optometrist signs a note stating that your eyes are especially sensetive to light, your tint is allowed to be darker than normal. I know a guy that has limo tint all around - even on the windshield - thanks to that legal quirk.

Heh, you guys think you got it rough?? I live in the oh-so-wonderfull-when-it-comes-to-laws state. New York. Legal limit here is 70% on ANY side window. The back window (back window above the trunk) is not allowed to be tinted AT ALL, unless you have 2 side view mirrors (which most of us do), in which case you can spray paint the rear window black if you wanted to, no limit. :?

My tint on my Bonneville is 20% all down the sides and currently none on the back window, but soon 2.5%. I have never had a problem with the Bonneville, probably for that exact reason, its a Bonneville. local cops in my town are more interested in going after the ricers.

I did get a warning almost 3 years ago in my borthers volvo when he had his windows tinited. He had all the windows tinted pretty dark, like 5% all around. Needless to say we had to scrape it off all of the sides, and even though it was a local cop who warned me, I went to the state place to have them put they're meter on it just for kicks. The Trooper was REALLY cool, and get this, when we put the meter on my brothers clear, untinted side windows, they were at 72%. In other words, they must have had a slight tint from the factory but it was so light you couldnt even tell, and they were 2% lighter than the NYS law!! Why even bother having tint at 70%, you cant even frekin tell its there!

Oh well, welcome to New York I guess...
PS - Dont talk on your cell phone while driving either, you'll get a tcket for that too
