When your muffler breaks in, your tone will change. And how do you like the raspy popping when you rev and let off quickly?

These are the reasons I added a resonator, and I'll never regret it.
Well thats the thing...my muffler IS broken in. It has been on the car for about a year. I just decided to remove the res. when I got the new converter installed (old one was broken). The cracking and popping isn't good...but I don't rev my car up in neutral.

Having had a LN3 with no res and a flowmaster, and the SII L67 with no res and a magnaflow, I can say the flowmaster had more drone, and was all around louder.

I also just love the sound the magnaflow makes @ WOT, combined with the engine noise and the whine.

Still, it all comes down to personal preference..I will try and get some sound clips soon.

With a turbo there'* no need for one.... and I could probably run w/o a muffler too... it'* so damn quiet.

However the 97 is a completely different story.... I need a new exhaust... right now it sounds like ***. I had to strip the old one off last year because it was causing too much 'boost stack' and the "patch job" that was done in a rush... well... my drone is at about 3500rpm.... and it just gets louder as the revs go up. Sounds nice (like a big V8 ) below 2500rpm.... but above 3500.... someone said it sounded like a cow "Mooooooo". :(

So my vote is for a good muffler(*) and a good resonator....

All I can say is - it doesn't sound this loud from inside the cabin. At all.

I like it.

Neighbors probably don't.

I had 2.5" from the downpipe back, with a hi-flow cat, no resonator, and a Magnaflow dual outlet muffler. When I'd start it with a cold engine, it sounded like a V8 at idle -- low and deep. I LOVED the sound. Once it warmed up, idle was definitely quieter but the exhaust was still far too loud under load, even light throttle would attract cops left and right. It was a bit raspy, but I personally thought it had a very nice tone.
