Can't go wrong with a Optima. You should have splurged and got the 900 CCA.

I've got a 3 month old Everstart Maxx 1000CA/875 CCA -freezes at -15*F.

Ah you did listen I've got it, i don't know if the larger one fits though. You'd have to get a new tray i believe. Mine was starting below -10 just fine on 10w-30 oil (i'm on 5w-30 as of tonight) so if you got problems with the red top, it'* not the red top'* fault.
