Default STS vs. Bonneville

I was looking through the paper today and I saw a 1994 Cadillac STS apparantly in amazing condition for $6000 canadian. In the same paper I saw a 1995 SSEi for $7000 canadian. So I started thinking... which car would be the better deal? Obviously Bonnevilles are the best car in the world, but that Caddy looks pretty sweet. Im not going to go out and buy a car but what do you guys (and girls) think of the Cadillacs? Theyre both sporty luxury sedans...

I bet that Northstar gets some of the same gas milage.

Older Northstars aren't the most reliable, but it'* a caddy....

Yea, its about 1mpg more on the Northstar, really little difference, the STS styling improved vastly post 2000. It lost more of the boxier look for softer lines.

My dad'* friend has a '94 STS with two-hundred some thousand km. It'* in for clutch packs in the tranny. In order to do this, I think the whole front subframe has to be out And he'* out $3000 for this job, done by a buddy mechanic (who'* also a good friend of my dad'*, and our Bonny goes to him too). Clutch packs are aftermarket (cheaper), too, not OEM. This STS owner also had a white '88 SSE until recently, tranny went out, and my dad'* up there picking parts off it as we speak.

My buddy drives an '01 STS to school every now and then, and DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN, is it a nice car. Rear seat legroom seems stingier than my SSE, but the front seats were quite far back. A quiet car (haven't ridden in a Lexus LS400/430 to compare, but I'm sure the Lex is quieter), smooth ride, but I was a bit disappointed with the Bose sound system.

SSEi for me.

300 hp sounds impressive but 15 mpg in the city doesnt... I think I will wait until I have a 50 dollar an hour job befoe I buy one. In the meantime I will just enjoy my bonneville
