Default Would my car trade well on this SSEi?

2001 SSEi, 55K miles, $12,500

Our local Chevy dealer just got this in. Silver with black leather. Would my low-mileage SE trade poorly against this car? It'* very tempting to go talk to them. I doubt they would want to give me much on a trade.

I'd have to figure out some way to keep my GXP wheels! I knew I should have held on to my SE rims and tires.

Your car should hold up pretty well for trade. How many miles do you have?

EDITED FOR MY IGNORANCE

Ok 30k, yeah you could probably even up just about I'd think

I went to see what I'd get on trade, and the dude told me he'd give me $10k for mine

Man, I don't know. I'm thinking a dealer isn't going to want to go thru the work of a trade unless he'* making significant coinage. Maybe I'll go test drive it for the heck of it and see what they say.

Its worth the shot. I mean heck my SSEi is a 2002 with 71k and I can get 10k on trade in. Even though yours is only an SE, it only has 30k on it. You should be able to get between 8k-10k trade in on it easily.

I would bet that even if yours blue-books close to the SSEi they would want your car plus $3000 just so they are making money. Especially if they have spent any time cleaning it, advertising it, or done any repairs/replaced tires.

Never know until you try....One day I had extra time and went in for a test drive..came out with a new truck.

Make keeping the rims part of the deal. They can put the SSEi rims on the SE.

Bottom line is that they want to sell the car, go and test drive it, act like you want it. Don't make them think that you can't live without it, because then they won't really work with you. Let them take your phone number and go through the steps of them appraising your car, then walk away. Even if they give you a deal that you would really consider, still walk away. Like I said, they WANT to sell the car, they will almost always call you back with an even better deal if you walk out. Also, take your car to one or two other dealerships and test drive a car for the hell of it, see what they will give you for a trade then you will have some leverage.

When we traded in our 2002 *-10 Z-r2, the first dealerships offer for trade was only $6,500! (these trucks are selling for around $12,000 right now) The second dealers FIRST offer for trade was $9,000! We ended up pushing them a little more and also got the back bumper repaired (on the vehicle we bought) after they said that they were not going to.

Two days after we left the first dealer, they called me and basically BEGGED me to come in and trade the truck in, they offered me more money and also money off of the car we test drove.

You could also find another SSEi from another dealer, see what deal they will work out with you. Take that car on a test drive over to the other dealer and tell them the deal the first dealer wants to give you. Make them fight for your money, otherwise they will walk all over you.

I can guarantee that you can get a lot better deal if you haggle them and DON"T give in untill you are satisfied.

Default FYI

Recently, I went to the dealer where I bought my 01 SSEi for $13k and 60k miles to see what they would give me for it as trade on an 04 GXP for $20k. (I currently have about 83k miles total on the 01 in one year, by the way.) In "good" shape, which it'* actually excellent, they would give me $9500! No sunroof or heated seats. And that was actually a cash offer now that I think of it.

Good luck!!!
