Default Interchangable parts?

I have a 92 pontiac bonneville ssEI and i'm trying not to get ripped off on certain parts. The mechanic i'm going to says I need a new blower for my AC/heating but it'* going to be kind of pricey. Does anyone know of any interchangable blowers that would be cheaper?

thanks
j

Rockauto.com carries blower motors for your car for $32. Can't get much cheaper than that.

Sweet! thanks!

Is it reasonable that the mechanic would try to weasel out from buying from them since it'* so cheap? Do most mechanics usually do that? Just wondering if I'll need to buy the part instead of the shop. Also sort of wondering that websites return policy and warranty policy.

Most mechanics want to sell you the parts since they can charge markup and make money. You are lucky if you can find a good mechanic that will allow you to provide the parts.

Rockauto has the best return and warranty policy of any company I have dealt with. I buy most of my car parts from them. They have yet to let me down, even if I order the wrong part.

I called them earlier but they said that each part has a different warranty and that I need to click on the more info section of the part to find out how long it'* covered. I did that but it seemed a bit confusing on the time frame.

For instance, this looks like a complete dogshit "warranty". It states that if their product is crap that I have to pay the shipping back to them. What a joke.

I would go with the A/C Delco part. It'* only a few dollars more. Plus, they are going to fail anyway. The blower motor is just a simple DC motor with brushes. The brushes are usually the #1 reason why the motors fail.
