Az, I read it ALL. HOLY ****! Everybody read it ALL. That was ALMOST funny, except that could have been MY car. They did right by firing that sunovabitch, but the dealer should at the very least purchase an extended warranty on the owner'* behalf. I bet she could get an Attorney to take this one EASY.

Guys, learn a lesson from Azwed'* post. This is exactly why I stay at the dealership while my car is being looked at....not that it goes there often, but it prevents the possibility of this kind of thing happening. Even a Pontiac Mech would be tempted with one of our Modded Bonnie'* coming in.

Good post, Az.

I will tell you one thing though, if that happened at my dealership that mechanic might even get sued too!

The dealership should extend her warranty, then sue the mechanic for the same amount, plus damages. They just got seriously blackballed by him.

I would be tempted to drive it like that too, BUT I WOULDN'T! Someone loves their car enough to get it checked out at the slight inclination of a problem and then someone goes and f'* with it. Just not right.

I trust my mechanics. Our family has been going there for 20 years. I've sat in the back with them while they work on my car sometimes, I've looked thru their computer systems myself, and I've taken joyrides with them to see if my car was performing better (even before it was paid for). I trust them with my car. I know they will let it lose to find out what'* going on and that'* it. No joy riding. They have their own cars for that (classic stang).

A local owned shop will usually do better than a dealer, or so my experience has gone. Just my 2 cents...

This is the EXACT reason that my cars do not go to anyone for maintenance. I do it unless it has to go on a lift (that'* coming in the next year or so, too). I have had too many nightmarish experiences with moron mechanics than I'd will ever post here.
One thing I do when I have to go to a shop is to act dumb....like I know nothing about cars at all. When they try to tell me I need a new exhaust system from the manifolds back and that it will cost me $1100.00, I call their bluff and nail them to the wall! This happened to me this past summer with the Cadillac. I went for the annual inspection and the guy said the muffler was loose and he wasn't passing it. I asked him if I could look at it on the lift and he said no. The system is hard-welded from the mainfolds back, so I knew this wasn't the case, and when I told him this, he slapped the sticker on and I was done. So was he...I reported the shop to the state police (who monitors all inspection shops). They shut the shop down.

Good work, Comp. These little episodes make me glad I don't have to have inspections in Oregon, nor do I have to deal with smog in California any more. I know eventually, every State will be doing these things, but things are still clean enough here that we don't. I'm gonna enjoy it for awhile longer.

We actually got rid of smog inspections here in Minnesota. They found that there were so few cars that failed it that the monwy would be better spent on other things to prevent pollution. (thanks to governor Jesse Ventura) The funny thing was that if a car came in a nd failed a test, the next 5 to 10 cars would fail as well. They had poor procedures for cleaning the testing equipment between cars. But anyways, that all doesn't matter here anymore!
