From my experience (92-99) the glass is glued into the plastic frame at the factory. A replacement mirror would usually entail replacing the glass/plastic frame as one piece.

If you are aiming to change only the glass, look for a GOOP adhesive or likewise that is meant specifically for glass/plastic. I would warn that the adhesive may possibly damage the mirror depending on it'* chemical composition.

Default don't know if this helps

this was several years ago i did this. i had broken the glass in a side view mirror and either was more broke than usual or irritated at the price( i don't remember which!) but decided i wasn't paying for another mirror.

i talked to a friend at a glass shop. he cut me out a piece of standard mirror glass to fit and i just glued it on with regular crazy glue. as i remember it was a couple of years later the car finally went to the wreckers and the mirror was still attached. it only cost me a couple of bucks for the glass and a tube of crazy glue!
