Default sse/ssei tail light delamination

I've come across posts mentioning delaminating of the louvers from the inside surface of the tail light lens. It'* happening on the trunk lid mounted lights on mine (both sides), started at the top and slowly growing. The few 92-95 sse/ssei tail lights I've found at local wreckers all have the same problem, and replacing with new is not an option (price). I know I could tint the outside, but I'd rather maintain the original factory look.

Has anyone with this problem attempted a repair of a delaminating tail light? If so, how'* it done, how successful was it, and any before/after pics?

Thanx

Yup. Been there, done that. Jseabert, too. We both did the same thing. Black them out. Click on the SSEi pic in my sig, and go to the Bonneville page. You'll see my taillight blackout link.

I actually work with the local PD. Strategic Planning. I was also offered 3 law enforcement jobs when I got out of the Marines in '89.

wilwren, I checked out your tail light pics through you sig. Pretty nice job. My 92 SE is in great shape except for one thing. The piece of crome trim that is on the front bumber is flaking prettly badly. It seems like you can take your finger nail and pick off the flakes. I haven't checked yet about replacing the strip which appears to be about 3/4" wide or maybe trying to fix it myself. I hear there is a crome paint spray but I am no "Van Gough".It is an eye sore and I would like to get it fixed. Any suggestions? I also checked your other links. Maybe your "co-pilot" would like to seat in the right seat of this some day.

wilwren, Thanks for sending the P/N and link. Looks like a pretty good deal to me. I got out of the USN in 1977.
