^AXED^ lol j/k

frankly i agree with venom... the solstice, gto, and g6/g8 are you basic i want cars from pontiac and with those 3 with all the different options if you dont want one... go to another dealership lol... solstice takes the roadster class, gto is the hotrod rwd family sedan, and the g6/g8 are the i wish i had the bonneville name because im basically in the same class type lol

everything else is just a different version of the same car and if theyre doing everything new... GO NEW! every other manufacturer is slicing the old cars and making new models so the same to pontiac... 3 cars, 30 options, 3 mill happy customers... itll work... but they prolly wont listen

Thats been the big problem. They have dividing their customer bases to thinly. The GP and Bonneville are to close in size. I know that going to get flack from both camps. But it got ridiculous, the size levels and similarities. And it went further than 2 models. You need a small and a large. With the cost of tooling and production, *~M~L~XL just doesnt work. It always been a Pontiac thing, and has nearly killed it.

Default G8 chat?

So....if they kill the GP, looks like the G8 is going to be possibly be the only choice going forward for old bonneville drivers like me. I hate to buy a 2008 GP if they are going to kill it. I guess the G8 is pretty close to the bonneville anyway. Anyone know of any problems with the 2008 G8'*. Looks like I'm in the market for one really soon.

GP is already dead. Do you mean G6?. It seems to me the is a bit more size diff in the G6/G8 vs GP/Bonneville. Where this mess goes is all conjecture Bill and I dont think even GM/Pontiac knows anything solid yet. The statement we all all opinioning about here right now was a very hastily made document to satisfy Congress in hopes of more bailout money. Nothing is set in stone for sure. The G8 has been around for awhile and made by Holden worlwide, Known for good engineering and quality. If I didn't have my Bonneville GXP and looking for a new car, I wouldn't hesitate from buying a G8 GXP and would expect better quality. The made in Detroit Bonneville GXP is a quality nightmare compared to what'* come out of Detroit in the past.

The media has been singing Detroit'* swan song for 3 decades and counting. I don't know where all of the anti-protectionist sentiment comes from with them but it seems that if you consider yourself left-wing these days, you HAVE to support the hell out of free trade, which means embracing the trade deficit and denouncing any and all domestic goods, especially manufactured goods. Groupthink at its worst. Detroit is their poster child for globalization. And to think, our crappy gas guzzling Pontiacs get 40mpg on the open road with a tail wind and corner as flat as any Honda and better than a Toyota.

I see people talking about the GP here as if it'* a current model. Perhaps I'm missing something, but dealerships here said production stopped last year sometime. As far as I'm aware, the GP is dead and GM stopped taking orders somewhere around March '08 IIRC.

As for GM, I've become generally disillusioned. From the vehicles I've had experience with both personally and at work, quality leaves a lot to be desired. Warranty is disappointing, replacement parts are ridiculously expensive (Canadian'* are really being taken advantage of here) and I'm just not sure I'm interested in any future relationship with this car maker.

I will give them some time to pull things together and perhaps re-evaluate my thoughts. I've never owned anything but Pontiac and I never thought I'd ever say such a thing, but the import market is looking better every day.
