Default How do I take apart my center console?

Figured after much thought this would be the correct place to put this, if wrong go ahead and move.

I'd like detailed instructions on how to remove the center console to where I can get to the lights in it. I want to replace with LED ones, so I need to be able to access them.

Take out your ashtray and remove the two Torx screws under the ashtray insert.

Remove your shifter handle by pulling the clip that faces your stereo head unit, and pulling up. Easier to do with the shifter in N or D.

Lift up on the console top, it hinges at the back near the storage compartment.

Just a heads up, theres not a bulb for each gear. there is one bulb that moves with the shifter and lights up that gear.

oher then that... its very easy to take apart.

Step 1- Remove the thing that holds the ends at the front of it together so you dont break it later.

Step2- Open the ash tray. take out ash tray. remove the two 7 or 8mm bolts.

Step3- Open up arm rest. Remove the door at the bottom of the compartment. there is two 10mm nuts down there. use a Deep well socket and a LONG extension.

Step4- remove the shift ****. There is a little C Clip on the front of it. use needle noise to remove it. next hold down break, up the car in N, Pull up on the ash tray part and the Hole black/gray part will lift up and back.

Step5- under the black gray center part there is 4 10mm bolts. two up front and two straight down right behind the shifter. removed those.

Step6- unplug any switched on the console.

Lift out done.

someone else wil fil in if i forgot something.

ill take some pics if you want me to

Move the shifty-thingy all the way to the rear (low gear). Lean forward and look at the FRONT of the BASE of the shift handle. You'll see a little clip in there. Use a pocket knife or screwdriver to pry it out.

Wow this is so great, now I feel like I know what I am doing I am pretty sure the one bulb for the back light for the gear indicator is the white piece in front to the left of the indicator box? Where is the other light?
