Default Michigan drivers question

Tonight I got cited for going 20 over, yes it was stupid of me but I wasnt thinking, no I was not under any influences just lovefeeling my car accelerate. Does anyone have an idea of what my ticket will cost? This is the first citation that I will be charged for.

Mine was knocked down to impeading traffic by the officer as it was my first offence..aka no points and no insurance raise..but same amount of money

2 words. Traffic lawyer.

If this is your first offense, they might reduce it down to failure to obey traffic control device or something like that. They just want your money, and aren't as concerned about putting points on your license. 20 over is quite a bit, at least here in NY. 10-15 over you could probably get away with talking to the DA yourself, but 20 warrants legal counsel, since its borderline reckless driving. If 20 over is counted as a reckless driving offense there, talk to a lawyer ASAP. I got a speeding ticket years ago in my Regal. Officer "said" I was doing 75 in a 55, but told me he would cite me as 72 so it didn't fall into reckless driving territory. I got a lawyer to reduce it to failure to obey a traffic control device.

Always go to court and plead not guilty. I got a $180 reckless driving knocked down to $45 failure to signal reduced speed and no points. Well worth the time.

Well me and people at work have had discussions about this with their tickets and they say If i try and fight it from a bigger violation like that and the officer shows up it wont get any better.

The chances of the cop showing up are nearly ZERO. Why? Because they can't get out of work to go to court, and if it'* on their off time, they don't get paid. They don't care, they write it, and they forget it.

was it a State Trooper or Highway Patroll? or was a Townie/City Kitty?

Staties and Highway Patroll are usually way to busy to bother with traffic court issues such as your'*. Even if it was a Townie as long as you didn't do anything to make yourself more memorable than any of the other cars he'll have ticketed most likely he/she won't be showing up.

Believe you me, some of the Troopers I know will go out of their way to make sure they show up in court if you gave them any sort of flack.
