from a private party - mint 98 white se basic basic, new transmission 2,000 miles ago, 120,000miles

guy wants 4500 for it, high, which is still above private party retail value.

probably can talk him down to 4

oh yeah white.

I really would rather have a l67 car but have never had a l36 before, also does not appear to have ever had the UIM replaced.

The L36 has substantially more guts than the L27. However, i'd say go Ser 2 L67 like I did. Its more reliable and will get better economy in you're location. Both my old car (L27) and the 05' LeSabre had to downshift a lot in mountains. Took the LSS through the mountains and it didn't need to downshift at all.

yeah it is that or find something better on ebay or in a classified add somewhere else in the country for ~3300 as it would cost 700 or so to ship it here.

Hans, I paid that for my 93 SSEi 3 years ago with only 65k on the ticker.

I only paid $2300 on my SLE, perhaps the rarest car on this forum. That'* a rip. You and I need to talk about buying cars for wholesale or below.

Seriously, go L67. In mountainous regions they are far more economical unless you get on it a lot. This one mountain pass i've took both the L27 88 and the L67 LSS on. The L27 got 22mpg through that area, the L67 got a lofty 29 mpg though the same area at even higher speeds. Why? No downshifting for the L67.
