Default Exhaust Tips

I went down to Heartthrob Exhaust HQ today and talked to them a little about exhaust tips.
They said for those of us in the higher salt climates, northern states or coastal states, that our best choice for aftermarket tips are stainless steel pieces.
If we wanted to go with chrome, no matter how expensive or how big of a name is attached to them and don't want rust, they should be washed every week.
Stainless don't need to be washed as often, but should still be wiped clean occasionally.

I know some of this is kind of obvious, but I think there is general consensus that expensive chrome is good chrome. The nature of chrome is it'* prone to rust with enough neglect

I just thought I would share

I just polish my factory aluminum tips. Some of us have chrome, though

I hate my GXP tips. Salt+chrome =fail. I try to keep up with them, use chrome polish, and they start showing rust stains quickly again.... Never ends.

They are made by Bosal actually, who supplied GM the entire tuned exhaust in one welded piece. Which BTW is $700+ for the single piece dual setup replacement. But ya, the Chrome isn't anything to brag about.
