Default My baby is in a Coma!!!!

Well when your brakes pulse from a bad rotor it'* time for sugery!!!! YAY!!! Spent the afternoon getting tools with my dad, and ripping off my rotors. My first major mechanical repair, side the air filter. She'* on a set of 3 ton jack stands, and getting her up was a little interesting. My dad figured we could just crank it up with the spare tire jack and we did that on the drivers side, and got the stand underneath. Then we went to the other side. We had jacked up the other one farther back then the jack point so we could get the stand underneath and it worked the first time, but on the passengers side the metal edge that runs underneath bent! Well i saw it start so i dropped that side as quick as i could with the spare tire jack. Went to the Northern Tool & Equipment store and got a nice 2 1/4 ton jack. Threw it under the center cross member under the engine and that was a dream!!!! So my baby is good again, battery disconnected and hood up, with no wheels, or rotors on..

I'm taking them off cause my mom does the books at a local repair shop (one of the best around here, no BS) and they said that since that job is normally all labor and no parts i could just bring them in and they'll throw them on the machine to surface them for free... Anyways thats my little story, i had to drive the parents car i used to drive all the time, an 88 Nova, DAMN THAT THING IS SMALL NOW. I used to love it, and it was comfy and all, but i got so used to the bonne after 6 days i felt every difference in positions.... Well i love my car and i'm glad she can be better for free, now only if i had a name...

Make abso-TIVEly sure that you torque the lug nuts properly when you put the wheels back on. Hand-torque to 100 ft./lbs. (if I remember the torque setting properly...) Simply slamming 'em on with an impact wrench is a great way to re-warp them soon after...

Oh i know... I don't have an impact wrench too. But my dad is getting a nice big ol torque wrench tonight, more for the calipers, but we will use it on the lugs as well. Damn those rotors are shiney, i'll post pix later, but i have to work now!
