Default Bad experience with Valvoline Maxlife

Changed the oil the other day thinking maxlife would help my leaking valve stem seal (which luckily hasn't leaking in a couple weeks). As soon as I started the car I noticed the cars oil pressure was lower than normal. This bothered me. So the next day ( last sunday) I went and bought some mobil 1 and changed the oil again. All is normal. Oil pressure is back up to the mark past the 40. When I took the maxlife out, the day after I put it in, it was much darker too. Looked like 2 month old oil. Did not like that at all. I am very pleased with mobil 1 and plan on using this oil for now on. Anyone have any good experiences with Maxlife motor oil? I have Maxlife Dexron III in the trans that works good. The motor oil just didn't agree with the beastly 3800.

IMO Mobil one is the best. I wanted to try those oils for "higher mileage" engines, but they just aren't all they are cracked up to be. Honestly, I don't see how they work, or any advantages they have towards a higher mileage engine. Taking care of your engine with a nice synthetic oil [such as mobil one] is all your engine wants .

Valvoline Max-Life may have detergents that differ from Mobil 1. Might have been more prone to breaking down sludge and deposits where you didn't want them. Just a theory. I use Mobil 1 also, and love it.

the detergents may be the reason the oil came out almost black, but I still can't figure out why my oil pressure dropped slightly? I always ran mobil 1 in my old vehicle. Looks like the Bonne is going to be getting Mobil 1 for now on. My engine actually seems to run smoother on it.
