They just introduced it for Massachusetts cars registered after a certain date (it includes me GRRRRR!!!) Trucks always had to though.

It came from the dealer with the front license plate holder.

I also had the 2 holes predrilled inside the bumper. I bought a plate holder from the deal for $40 but it fits perfectly on the front of the car, even with the bra on.

BTW: a tix in MN for this runs around $60. Got 2 of them, 1 was dismissed since it was 48 hours after the first one was issed (too close together and the first ticket was never on my car so I didn't know).

i think the law is such b.*. i was driving in my small hometown last week and saw a state patrol car parked outside of his house. yep thats right ...NO front license plate. could he technically give you a ticket if he was breaking the law also?
You should know by now that Cops are above the law and don't have to abide by them since they are the only ones that enforce it. ********.

I got stopped once for not having one. I must have passed this Cop when he was off duty, cuz he waited for me to leave work one afternoon and stopped me just as I was leaving the lot. Gave me a warning to put it on within 48 hours or a fine would be imposed. I had to bring it in to the cop shop to have them view it was back on. When I showed up 48 hours later at the cop shop and asked them to check that it was now back on, he told me he trusted I had it on, since he didn't want to interupt his donut break. He didn't think I would be there if it wasn't on so he didn't have to go out into the lot to check.

ACTUALLY ud have to be going 70 in reverse or be the parked car to get hit with a plate thats already in front of you.

But yeah, I bought my car with a plate holder on the front because it was originally from a state that req'd front plates. I took it off cause it was real dirty and there was a tight "Bonneville" stamped under it. So now i have 2 damn black holes on the front of my white bonne from the screws, and a permanent brown line from where the dirt was held for 9 years against the bumber without being cleaned.....ugh...BLECH...i hate those things. Im debating putting it back on to cover the holes and dirt and jut puttin a custom plate on it....

very good point bmsgaffer86. You should have shown the cop that when he stopped you. Act shock and say "you mean, if I were to hit something, like say the rear end of another car" lean forward and pull the plate out and bring it to your forehead, "the plate could come back and hit me like this? I never thought about that, sir! Ill go and get a holder for it first thing tomorrow!" Then see if he were to realize what he just said

yea before i drilled the holes in my bumper i saw the factory ones at the bottom...i asked the guy at the auto part store (checkers auto) and he said it was for the factory ram air setup...so i figured that must be it...i guess not...how do you mount the license on there?
