Default 1995 3800 HARMONIC BALANCER

I ordered a new harmonic balancer for a NA and received one for a supercharged eng. (My mistake, Didn't pay close enough attention to vin #) I'm in a time crunch and would like to know if it will work. It'* going to cost me an arm and leg to buy one locally AND return the one I have.

No. The supercharged HB would be for a Series I, and the naturally aspirated HB would be for a Series II. I believe the crank sensor rings on the back are different.

That'* a very interesting question. I'd assume that as far as fitment goes, yes. And you'll use only the inside belt path.

I would suggest flipping them over and aligning the crankshaft key locations carefully, and then very carefully inspect the placement of the 18x and 3x interruptor rings. Even a couple degrees can make a difference.......

But it might be more complicated than that in the long run. The 95 Supercharged motor was a Series 1 engine. The 95 non-supercharged was a Series 2. That was the crossover year for the two engines. Timing issues may abound.

I wouldn't trust it. But I've been through this nightmare to learn from it. You'd know once you replace it and start it up that it was the wrong one. It would idle horribly.

Thanks. I have now located a correct (I hope) balancer locally. (At a premium price) So I can compare them when I pull it apart. But at least I will be able to have it on the road for next week for my turn to carpool.
