Default SSEi shopping...

One of my reasons for deciding to keep my car and fix it rather then get a SSEi is because there were none for sale around here, however when I checked auto trader today there were 3 that came up that seem rather reasonable.

First was this:

http://www.canadatrader.com/result/d...5&pgno=1&srt=1

Is there anything I need to watch out for with a 96? Do you think I can get the price any lower?

and then:

http://www.canadatrader.com/result/d...px?ID=15271464

Quite a bit more, but it looks exactly like what I want...maybe I could get him to slide it down a bit? At any rate...what should I ask these sellers? What should I watch out for? I will probably just take a look at them soon...

Prices can vary by area.

On the 96. Modding is more difficult. Intense does not offer a PCM, however a member just showed us a Jet chip PCM for 96.

The 96 is the Series II motor with the 4T60E trans, where as 97+ are Series II motor with 4T65E trans.

Now someone may argue on me with this one, but from what we have seen the 4T60-E is a more stronger trans than the 65-E, I've drove both, and I've noticed the 65-E spends more time hunting for gears when u really step into it. Those are two really nice looking Bonnevilles'.

Look for CCR failure..
Extra play in the SC pulley...
Check all window motors for correct operation...
Power antenna operation...
Steering wheel radio controls...
HVAC system...heat, cold and ALL vent positions.

Any of these, if not working, may be a good negotiating tool.

Simple way to check for CCR failure..
Both LEDs will be illuminated on the panel next to the shifter.

I have inquired about both...the '96 has 160,000km'* and the '97 has 243,000km'*, so there is quite a difference. At any rate, the '97 is at a dealer and the '96 is private. I think tomorrow I'm going to head down to the dealer and ask to take it for a test drive, just so I can see if I really want a SSEi. So far the '96 is looking like the best deal, but I don't really want to go ask someone at thier house if I can drive thier car around quite yet...
