Default Maintenance List

Hey guys,

I was looking around the thread last week sometime and ran across a post (i would have sworn it was in the introduction area) where someone had posted a maintenance list which was linked to a thread somewhere in the forum, which included what had to be done and how often it should be done. I have tried searching various threads (and also well aware of the Tech Info area) but havent found the same thread that was linked to....so if you guys could help me out, it would be appreciated..

Just Wanting to make this Bonny last to the 300,000 mark like some of you have seen! haha

Thanks guys,
Eric

I looked around a bit but didn't find anything. General chat is probably the area you saw it.

For the most part, change the fluids, watch them close. Locate any sounds, creaks, clunks, etc and fix it right away. Any thing that needs fixing, do it ASAP.

Hey Dan,

It was in the new area post because someone had just bought or inherited a car and had xxx,xxx miles on it and someone chimed in with a general maintenance list and how many miles between changes which would be suggested for the car he received..

Also, i flushed and re-filled my transmission today and all went well, thanks for your thread and help with that!

Sorry, don't recall that thread. But I do like the idea of having that information. That would be good to have in tech info.

You can find most of the GM-recommended maintenance, listed by time and mileage, in the back of your owner'* manual. I recommend following the severe conditions schedule, regardless of how often/hard you drive it. Sure, it'll cost a few more dollars up front, but it'll keep your car happy into old age.

The GM schedule covers everything except for the usual oddball things like 2000+ models' intermediate shafts, 4T60 valve body wear, and the L36'* vanishing coolant -- and for all those, we're here to help.

Hey guys,

I was searching around the net for quite some time, and ended up stumbling across this off some other 3800 forum. It seems to be pretty detailed and a good list to keep checking for maintenance. This still isnt the one i was thinking of but I think this was better than the other.

Sam, its for the 3800 motor, but im sure the things on this list are similar, just different products (referring to spark plugs, wires, filters, etc).

Thanks guys,
Eric

Sorry, I had to pull the above list Eric. It set off our censors and not allowed here. We have Regulations and Software that either/or remove linking and we abide by Copyright Laws. It'* also an integrity issue. The site that was linked and autocensored is one we have an Agreement with not to do so. You don't buy a BK meal and go sit at MD'* to eat it. While it'* OK to post info in your own writing after the fact of what you may find out there, copy/pasting from other site directly is bad form and somewhat illegal.
