Sorta like whats on CAR-SURVEY...but not quite

Post your maintance record of what has gone wrong with your bonneville or related 3800 car. We are talking everything but oil changes, filters, spark plugs, wires, brake pads, brake rotors, windshields, and tires. This is stuff that needs to replaced on any vehicle you own.....Also lets talk about your driving style as well. Spirited, Normal, Grandma Driver.

1993 SSEi
Previous Owner Records:
61,000 Miles: LIM Gaskets, replaced again at 63,000, installer error
79,000 Miles: Endlink Failed, broke in half..not related to rust
109,000: Transmission Failed, 1st gear clutch failure I believe, not sure
110,000: Master Cylinder Failed
Purchased at: 110,000
118,000: Alternator Failed

Currently at 128,000

Current Problems:
Driver Seat is worn
Keyless entry does not work
Sunroof is slow
headlight switch can be screwy at times
Strut mount is making a noise, needs to be replaced at some point

Driving style: Spirited

Overall: The most reliable car I've ever owned

Hans..you need to add another driving style for some of us..

Called "HOLY F"N Crap!"

I've done it all.. Transmission..I change plugs more often than you do underwear.. Done the brakes a couple times in less than 2 years.. (they cracked.. weren't bad..lifetime replacement rules). Struts.. radiator for the heck of it.. hoses..

Name it on the interior..added tons of stuff.

And still...I love those darn check engine codes...

I think the title of this thread is misleading.

I'm not sure what exactly the previous owner did to it, but I know he replaced the LIM gasket, MAF, and 2 alternators. Owner b4 him never did anything but routine maintenance, I have all his records. All I have done was the coolant bypass valve and the swaybar end bushings. Nothing really wrong w/it now except it'* beat up and the front pass. tire is out of balance and the remote trunk release doesn't work. My driving style is normal, except every once in a while I'll wind her out on some back road somewhere to stretch her legs.

Since this is a 3800 thread, I can't comment on my Bonnie I guess but I did used to drive a loaded Torch Red 2000 Impala with a gen II 3800. That was a very solid car. I drove it for 4 years and never had one problem with the engine, or the transmission. Everything was top notch and very reliable. I sold it with 80,000 km on it (50k miles).

Exactly my thoughts! I couldn't have said it any better myself. I have a two page log of all the repairs, starting at 28,000 miles in '02 when we bought it.
