Default Hey

Do misfiring plugs actually cause the engine to shake? I seem to have a bad problem with that, when the hood is up I can acutally see the engine jumping around some. I've never replaced mine and I'm @ 102,899. The Service guy at the Pontiac dealer said if I use premium I could get another 10k out of them.

Fuel? With an SSEi, you need to be using premium to begin with

No less than 91 or 93 octane. Whichever is the highest available in your area

No no, let me re-phrase the sevice guy at the Pontiac dealership said I could get another 10k out of them if I Continue to use premium fuel. This car has never experienced under 93 since I've had it. I was just curious if misfiring plugs cause just a vibration or more of a visual Shake.

There'* all kind of things that will cause a rough idle. Yes for staters, you need to use premium fuel with a supercharged 3800.

It could...at least it did on mine. Mine was misfiring on #2 plug after only 53k miles. Replaced them.... but then 5k miles later, I had a rough idle... and the engine would shake and shimmy when it occured. Turned out, one of the plugs were cracked.

Many here have found that AC Delco or NGK perform better than Bosch...

Does anyone know which kind of plug GM would replace them with?
