a code reader is a code reader, i dont think there is really any BAD ones.. In the end of the day, it just reads codes.

Is it the one that comes on sale of $150? I've got it. It'* pretty good. I have used it multiple times to get the codes on 4 different cars (2 Pontiac vans, a Regal and a Mazda MX-6).

Some code readers may be limited to Standard OBD codes only, and may be lacking the manufacturer specific code capability.

I saw one for just unter $70.00 at Wally World. Seems like Inno-something may have been the name. I was wondering about it myself. I don't know why the dern things have to be so expensive. Heck, for $70.00 I can buy a calculator that will compute the trajectory to the moon and run off of power from the sun. Seems like it should be possible to make a simple code reader for 20-30 bucks.

I'm on a first-name basis with the guys down at AutoZone while I'm diagnosing my current MIL troubles. It took me a couple of trips to figure out how to get them to let me clear my codes in between repairs so I could tell if I was making any progress...
