Changing my oil for the first time, and i'm most likely doing synthetic, or a blend. I've never had one leak anywhere on the engine, it didn't burn or use up a drop of oil during my 2000 mile trip last weekend either.

I'm pretty set on mobil 1, everyone i know who uses it swears by it. Do Synthetics need any special filter? Or do they use normal oil filters?

Filter should be fine, but once you go synthetic you have to stay with it...and despite what they say, 3000 mile changes regardless. Be prepared to spend a bit more. I had considered it in the Rora, but it takes like 7L of oil :?

I'll disagree on the 3000 mile change interval with synthetic. Changing at 5k is safer than 3K on dinosaur juice. Many long-term tests have shown that even 8-10 k miles are very safe with Mobil1.

If you run over 3k (or intend to) use a PREMIUM filter. I change at 5-6k miles, and run a K&N oil filter.

From the factory our cars say 7000, i wouldn't do that under normal driving conditions, but i'm only racking miles up on the freeway. It'* like the ODO stops in town... :? That little stint to T.O. didn't help.

I've always heard that if you drive stop and go, and take many short trips you need to change oil a lot, but if you hop in the car, go 1000 miles (like we did) it doesn't affect it nearly as much as 1000 city miles.

Any advice? Never done it myself yet. I'll be using a floor jack and jack stands, as the air dam doesn't work with our ramps,

Bah! When i jack the sucker up, the hood lines up about with our 98 yukon.... With full offroad package.

They make ramps that fit these puppies? Remember my air dam is more up and down out there then yours.

My airdam is farther forward and lower than yours....which makes it harder. I have ramps that work. They're black ABS plastic, and strong as hell.

I still think mine is lower, because yours flips out like that. Mine does seem a slight bit lower then most.

We do have some red ramps, but i've never tried em.... BUILT of metal.

Jason, measure the lowest part of your airdam to the ground. I'll do the same. You want me to post a pic of my car pulled up to the ramps I have?

Ok, this isn't the furthest point forward where a ramp would be, but in the middle of the curve of the air dam, it'* 8" off the ground, and 17.5 ( i think that'* what it was, not runnning outside again 12* here) from the apex of the tire.
