ok...we used his gp transmitter on his gp...and i completely understand the whole frequency but the fact is that before we tested it over the phone he held it away from his body and pushed it about three times and nothing worked, then we tried to twoway the signal with our nextels...that didnt work (so he pushed the button and nothing happened) then when i put him on speaker phone via a normal cell call and put it at the window it worked...
as i said i will test it again just because this is obviously an anomoly that id like to know if it is just coincidence....so ill report back today with the quarter mile test.

could have been a distorted signal that popped the trunk..could have also been high solar energy spikes that day..solar spikes cause all types of oddities...i wouldn't depend on the theory though..keep a door key in your wallet

just my 2 cents...not sure about the cell phone thing...but it is definitely true that if you hold your transmitter to your cheek you will increase its range. not by much...but it defintiely works. i do it all the time. that'* why the right side of my brain is cooked.

At my work, we use 4 nextel phones (the one he used right? The i205 model), we use them in a room which is right beside the parking lot. We also use the speakerphone on each one, pretty much nonstop from 12:00pm-7:30pm. We have never had something happen with somewone'* car. I park right next to the window, and my car has never unlocked or done anything special, I know that many people here have keyless entry, no alarms have gone off or the cars beeped, or anyone wondering why their car door was unlocked/locked before.
I can't say I 100% don't believe it though. Maybe something happened to magnify the signal to make it work, many possibilities, or a scam, I'm always open, but not always set on one thing.

Last year at a Ontario BC meet (it'* been a year, wowww), my brother and I, Jim W, his girlfriend Angie, and Al (sterdeus) were standing around Jimbo'* Aurora as he was about to leave for home. Jim hits his key fob, no go. He had his keys locked in his car too - with the intent of using only the fob, silly guy
So, there we were, on a Sunday afternoon, in the middle of downtown Toronto looking for a convenience store or something that sold [what we thought] was a dead battery in the remote. Oddly enough we did find a battery in decent time, got it in. Still no go. Eventually 'that admin guy' gave in and got the CAA to slim-Jim (bad pun) the 'rora open. He was parked pretty much underneath the CN Tower - which is also a huge place for transmitting radio waves and such, they were strong enough to kill out the key fob signal even when standing right next to the car. The 'chin' trick didn't work at all... but I'm guessing its effectiveness might depend on how many fillings you've got?
