Underestimated by Pontiac
I just got my 03 dealer brochure today and was reading thur it......most the stuff i know but its still cool to have it....anyeay they talk about the Perfromance of the SSEi and the Supercharged engine......
In a official Test done by pontiac the SSEi beat out the 300m and the GS 300.
"In the al out quarter mile blast SSEI showed them nothing but taillights"
SSEI 16.60 @ 82 mph....WTF????
300m 17.10 @ 85.mph
GS 300 17.02 @ 86.4 mph

Track temps, humitidy, drivers ... Blah blah blah. all those numders sound slow.
Just to play devil'* advocate, I wonder why the used the Base 300 model. Since Pontiac used the top Bonnie model , ... Why didnt they run it against the 300 Hemi which according to dragtimes.com runs consistent high 13'* or the 300 ST-8 which runs consistent low 13'*. I'm not a fan of Chrysler by any means but putting the top Bonnie model against the low end 300 just isnt a valid comparison. they list a few SSEi'* at 14.4-15.4 (Alot of various years)

If there was a HEMI in 03 they probably still wouldn't have raced it because they would want to go against something they know they can beat. But the regular 300M has more hp than the L67 so it'* kind of a valid comparison in terms of comaring basic hp numbers... ?
I remember reading an article in a mag about the SSEi vs the 300M, GS 300, and I believe one other car. It was before 2003 though. I would say 2001. I wish I knew what mag so I could see what numbers they had.

It'* interesting to see how the fastest time has the slowest speed and vice the verse...
I guess they don't use a fact checker, huh???

Well, there was a higher performance model 300M back then, it was called the 300M Special, and had a retuned engine good for 275hp rather than the standard 250.
However, the SSEi(And the Ultra) was still faster, because the Chrysler tranny was horribly inefficient.
