Default Aftermarket headlight brands

One of the front headlights went out on the Bonneville. I wanted to keep both the sides the same (I typically replaced them in pairs). The cost of the aftermarket lights are pricey, so wanted to shop around.

What I found was that AutoZOne, Oriellys, AdvanceAuto, and Walmart only carry Sylvania lamps (and some no name cheap brand). I wondered why the only carried one brand, and that the prices seemed high at all the part stores.

I went to RockAuto, and they carry 5 different brands, but not Sylvania. RockAuto lamps were about half that of AutoZone, although i could not compare exact brands.

Wondering if all the retailers are in "cahoots", only selling one brand, all the same, when there are other big name brands like GE, that are not being sold at the big retailers.

sometimes the manufactures give deals if the big places only carry their stuff i think.

ive gotten silverstars from ebay the last half dozen times, and have been pretty pleased, just as with anything you make sure they have a bunch of positive feedback before you buy

I have seen silverstars on sale and overall they are a good buy.
I know here in canucksville everything is always more $ and I always look for sale items and shop/call around for more competitive pricing.
In the Pk Ave & Jeep, I used PIAA for the low beam and silverstar for high.
The Piaa last a long time (many years) still have not had to replace them and I like the beam pattern from the PIAA better. They are more costly but for lows it really is not that much more $.

Amazon has the GE NightHawk Platinums for 18.99 a pair with free shipping. There is also a $10 GE rebate, clearly shown on the Amazon web-site, so a cost of $8.99 for a pair. RockAuto wants 27.62 for a pair, I imagine a rebate also can be applied. Shipping would need to be added to the RockAuto price.

Seems I am going to be trying the GE lowbeam nighthawks. I paid $24 plus tax for one low beam Sylvania at Autozone last week...
