Hmm, my car has a pretty low fast idle - 1000rpm, +/- 100rpm? I notice other cars going higher than that...

... the ice racing beater car that was in my school'* autoshop had something seriously wrong with the fast idle - 3000rpm, anyone?

Same here...around 2k in the weather we are having right now...

and you also nnow it is too cold out when...

1) You blow a voice coil on your newer 12" woofer while at low volume

2) When you start your car it sounds like a banche comming because the block is so cold (-24F here yesterday morning...yeah)

3) Power goes out at your house 2 minutes after you get up to get ready for work.

When its cold out the car should kick into high idle then back off when thermostat opens up. That chilled air is mother natures intercooler, great for power but bad on bearings and seals.
