I had a 99 GTP and then went to the Bonnie, bought it in 2000 with 22,000 on it for $14k with a bumper to bumper warranty until 104,000 miles!!, then decided to upgrade to the Bonnie for various reasons. The GTP was alot more responsive I will give it that, but the ride was also alot harsher. However the tourque steer in that thing was !!! I got rid of it @ 50,000 miles just because the SSEi came up at the right price and they gave me what i owed on the GTP....i'll post a pic of the GTP as long as it doesn't get me in too much trouble!

Yes, the GTP is faster, and doesn't require a custom burn ECM as early in the modding process as far as the KR goes, but you will learn about feeling uncomfortable even after getting out of the car. My sister has a 1997 GT and she borrowed my car ther other day and when she got home she asked if I wanted to trade. I was like "Forget what a SC'ed 3800 had for power since you stopped driving the Riviera?" She was like "No! The car just rides so much nicer and the steering is so much smoother."
That was pretty much the same response I got from a couple of the guys from the MN club Grand Prix who rode in it also. Then when they popped the hood to put the pulley on they were like "$h!T!!!! Where'd all the working space come from?" They said there was twice as much room to work in for changing plugs, pulley, and much more. They said it would be extremely easy to do the rockers too compared to the W-bodies.
Anyhow, everyone has there own tastes and I do respect your'*. Remember, though that we do have room for GP guys here. Hey, at least it'* still a 3800.

I am well aware of the quote 'subpar' interior, and the harsher ridiing conditions.
I am a very performance oriented person, so interior makes no difference to me. As for the riding conditions, I prefer a harder riding car. Yes, I will miss the adjustable suspension, but I plan on doing not only engine work, but also suspension work too. It'* going to be a very stiff car when I'm done. I like that kind of stuff. I envy the imports that can handle so great, and I want to get a small taste of that at least, and still have the type of power that the 3800 makes.

Sol,
GTP'* are not that bad, I did enjoy my 97, but had always wanted an SSEi so I traded up when I could. My only sugestion for you is not to get a 97. They had no traction control and the PCM is harder to tweak. I would recommend a 98 or 99 (I hear the 99'* are a little bit faster stock). Enjoy it when you get it.

Can help but think that you will regret it after you've lived with it for a while.
It'* all in the little details that make the difference.
