All bolts on the GM motors are considered TTY and are "supposed" not to be reused. However all the mechanics etc that I know, reuse them without issues. In the 3800 community it'* a widely known thing and everyone makes a fuss over it.

FWIW my Dad'* have ...uhmmm 4 or so different reuses on them. Car went back together the rest of the way last night. I ended up touching that pos. Then had to test drive it. YUCK. Who the heck ever designed a cooling duct for an alternator. Mmmmm that'* gotta be from the great design/placement of the accessories.

AGAIN!

I decided to take the TGP to class today in Indy. About 10 miles outside of Indy, some dude in a Mazda wanted to get his *** kicked. Middle of second gear, 50% throttle. 4psi of boost after a couple of seconds, into third. Smashed his ***.

Then dude starts flashin me. I see in his headlights a **** ton of smoke. I pull it over, shut it off, and sure enough, theres a lot of smoke coming out the exhaust, and under the hood. So I pop out the dipstick and the oil level is normal, a little low maybe. No exploded radiator. But there is pulses of smoke coming up out of the valve cover. GODDAMNIT!

So I start it up and turn around to drive the half a mile back to the nearest gas station. I pull in and check the oil level again. 1 qt low. Still no coolant in the oil.

I figure I blew a gasket again, but I don't know where all the oil is going.

So I'm sitting here at a truck stop outside of Indy, waiting for a friend to drive here from Indy. He'* going to drive me home. Tomorrow I'll rent one of those things to tow the car home with Sarah'* new truck.

Snaking through a ton of ferreted hits I came up with a number for the Flint Michigan plant.

Flint Journal extras About the 3800 engine:

• Still used to power the Buick Lucerne and the Buick LaCrosse.

• Built since 1988, the engine is one of the oldest domestically-produced car engines. Its production ended Friday in Flint.

• More than 30 million of the engines have been built here.

• The 3.8-liter V6 engine was built by members of UAW Local 599 in Plant 36 at GM Powertrain Flint North.

Going to be 3800 parts in JY'* for along time to come....

I know you don't want to hear it, but

You seriously think its the head gaskets? What happens when you spend a boatload of money on a good set of of gaskets and you blow them in a couple of days.

Not saying its not the gaskets, but I'm somehow doubting it is. Keep in mind the 3800 guys are pushing much higher PSI numbers (3x that much) and a blown head gasket is a serious rarity.
