Would you buy a "flood" car?
Howdy, I've come across an '00 ssei w/ 90k for 4900.00. Seems cheap but it has a flood title. The dealer who has it says when they got it in there was no water in any of the fluids (engine, trans. etc). He also states that it is a "Michigan flood title" and even if it had been into deep water, it would been fresh water and thus would not cause the degree of damage to critical electrical components that salt water would.
I'm not real sure what to think about this. Yeah, its a good price but am I going to have nothing but headaches w/ this car? I'm primarily concerned about the computer and other electrical parts. The other thing to concider is that I have no idea how deep the water was. Perhaps it wasn't that deep at all.
Anyone here have any experience or opinions on this subject? If so please share them. Thank you!

Dealers sometimes employ some really strange logic...if nothing was significantly damaged, why would it have a flood title?
That car'* suffered probably $10,000 worth of damage, and you'll never be able to resell it. It'* worthless, even for parts.

hmmmm I think that I know exactly what car you are talking about 
.. it has been in the Auto & Rv book for at least three weeks.... is this one it? >>>2000 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSEI.
Now, I live here in Michigan, and I can tell you that I don't ever hear of any floods.... YET ALONE one deep enough to cause a flood title :? . I would almost have to think that the car actually went into a lake or something, I may be wrong though. We had some HARD rains a few weeks ago, but I don't think any major flooding was caused.
I would stay away from it for sure....
but if it was SUPER cheap.... I would soooo hit that lol ( still not recommending it though. )

-NO. I wouldn't buy a flood title car. Period. At any price. The simple fact is that there are good non-flood cars to be had at reasonable prices. Why not buy one of those instead?

I'd buy it...however it would need to be in the $2000-$3000 price range since you can find 00+ sseis with around 100-120k for around $5000 without flood titles.
