Moving. Towing car 1800 miles, two wheels or none?
The subject pretty much says it all. I'm leaving hot Arizona back to the wonderful paradise that is Minnesota!!!!
I'm starting the budget, and I was wondering if anyone knew if the bonneville would make it on the back two wheels. Any input is great as always, and for the record, I would like to meet up with the MN crew at some point in time. Thanks again!

Thanks, I knew it had to be the rear wheels, I just couldn't find how much, if any extra stress it would put on the car, also when I visited one of the rental sites, (I think it was budget) it wouldn't let me pick a two wheel tow as an option for the bonneville, so I was getting nervous about putting the car on the road like that anyway

Their reasons for not giving a dolly option for the Bonne'* is because of the ELC options, too easy to blow out the rear struts with the angle differences.
That'* why in the towing buisness, 9 times of 10 they will flat bed the cars that have the leveling/air ride options.

I know my '91 won't sit on a dolly because it sits too low to the ground, so an auto transport is the only way to go for me. If you've got the ground clearance, though, a tow dolly is the way to go because it'll save gas mileage on the vehicle you're pulling with, instead of adding an additional 1200 pounds or so for the auto transport.

We pulled my wife'* old 88 Grand Prix SE Coupe with just a front wheel dolly from Ohio to California, behind a Ryder truck. No problems. I know it'* not a Bonneville, but it gives you an idea. Should work if you have clearance at the tailpipe & rear bumper. Do the ELC fuse thing already mentioned.

Like mentioned, the ELC is probably the main reason behind no dolly option. Another possible one is the truck size. U Haul almost didn't let Morty and I have the flatbed trailer to pull the parts car back until they realized the truck was heavy duty and extended cab.
Bonnie'* weight a good amount and the tow vehicle weight and braking capacity is a big factor. To my knowledge tow dollies don't have braking systems on board, they rely on the vehicle pulling.

Alright, so I can try to tow on the dolly it if I pull the ELC fuse, it'll save on gas millage for the truck towing, but the car needs to clear the road, and I have to drive even more like a grandmother because of the weight of the car slamming into the back of the truck and sending me over a cliff? Four wheels off the ground is safe, just going to hurt the mpg of a truck that as it is gets 13mpg hwy.
