Default 1992 Park Avenue.... might buy one

I am considering selling my 1997 GMC for $5500 and buying a 1992 Park Ave I have found for $1500. The Park Ave has 115,000 miles and looks great. I have not driven it yet. My wife may kill me however since it has whitewalls and wire wheels.

So are there any big things to watch out for besides the oil and coolant leaks?

the 92 park has the series one that is not known for the coolant leaks like the series two, the coolant leaks that the series one have is the TB gasket, and that is an easy fix. not sure if in the parks they used the EGRless engine but that has been know to cause burnt exhaust valves, but many of thoes engines have been fine...so you never know any chance that park is an ultra...that would mean SC

Nope not the Ultra. I am not sure I would want a supercharged car with more than 70,000 miles on it. I really want to keep the upkeep as cheap as possible on my cars.

why would say that, the SC is the strongest part of the engine, and would likely outlast the entire car, the only thong that goes wrong it the coupler or the snout seal, and both are easy and relativeny cheap to fix

Well I spent about 5 years at the Buick dealer and we saw nose cones going bad at around 80,000 miles. Plus the tranny takes more abuse in most cases.

That'* from lack of maintenance, and the fact that when they rattle, the Dealer won't simply change the coupler. They're not allowed to, so they have to replace the whole Nosedrive.

I'm here to tell you that if you change your SC oil every two years, and the coupler at 80k, that sucker will outlast 5 SSEi'* or PA ultras.
