TIEROD END wtf
I just got two outer tierod ends. Me and the parts guy both were trying to figure out why one was sealed, and one had the grease fitting.
Anyone know why? Both are TRW. Just curious.

well if there both the same Part# then it sounds like TRW decided to changed the way they make them.
are the boxes/bags the same?

I believe that the sealed ones on your car are the OEM factory part while the other with the grease fitting is an aftermarket part. The sealed ones are much better since they are self greasing, but these other ones need to be greased. I believe thats the only difference.

Nope all of the Bonneville from 87 - 99 should have grease fittings from the factory..
My Tie Rods and Ball joints all have them

Yep, all mine have grease fittings from the factory too. As do my new TRW ball joints. The packaging and part number are the same on these tierod ends. I was just curious why they made one that was sealed and one that wasn't.
I'd almost rather have grease fittings personally, because no joint is a life-time joint IMO. Which is why ball joints should never been riveted on!

well, cuz they maid it to last like 100K and they know that your most likely going to be replacing it on a car that has over a 100K on it, so that dont think they have to worry about ti going again
