I believe that'* the same top speed Turtle_SSE hit.

And I second the question about a stock 94SSEi being able to exceed 128.
5mph faster than your HUD pic

And I'd say it'* possible to creep to 130, maybe 131, in a stock SSEi, but 138 seems high. I mean I'm supposed to be limited at 108, but have gotten to 113 several times. Maybe he picked up an extra 5mph..? But an extra 10mph.. :?

PCM cuts out at 128 on the HUD with a stock setup. The HUD is getting it'* signal from the VSS, and so is the PCM. Your speed-limiter shouldn't vary by more than 1mph from the HUD.

Maybe N was selected, and car was going down a paved mountain with a 138mph tail wind?

127 MPH in my 1994 SLE (governor only kicks in when it feels like it wants to) and I have a photo of the GPS showing 117MPH from another run.
In my 1999 SSEi I hit 129 MPH on the HUD and then the governor kicked in.
In the silver 1989 Lesabre I drove last winter I hit 126 MPH (GPS again).
In my 1988 Lebaron TURBO GTC Conv I hit in the ball-park of 157-159 MPH (going by rpms, gear ratio and tire size) Could have gone faster but I had a conscience thing start nagging me.
My brother has hit 128 MPH in his 1988 Olds 98 Touring Sedan (GPS verified).

So my HUD can read 113, but it'* not supposed to?

Actually, you should cut out at 108 on an SSE (non-supercharged). Unless your car was delivered from the factory with H rated tires or better.
