How do you guys do it?!
I was planning on buying my mom'* Bonneville from her so she could get a new car so I went ahead and got an insurance quote. For every six months the Insurance on her Bonneville would be $1,600!! PL&PD for her BOnneville would cost me a whopping $900 every six months still. I have NO tickets either. That is outrageous! I was also looking at Regals, a 97 REgal LS is $1,800 every six months, and a Regal GS would be $2,000 every six months! How can anybody even afford to buy a newer car when insurance is that high? :( I'm almost 18 too. this really sucks. I'm going to be stuck with the buick practically forever now.

I just bought a brnad new 2003 Malibu LS and for 2 people covered on it with FULL coverage it'* costing us about 1,700$. With my old car I was only paying like 700$ but that was a 1990 Cutlass.

That seems a bit high. I got mine and I was paying $150 a month for full coverage when I was 21, but mine was supercharged and newer at the time. I would look around for quotes to see what other companies offer.

well, it seems way otu there to me. I was expecting around 900-1000 for full coverage, no where near 1,500... When my bro bought this Buick LeSabre it was 9 years old, Full coverage was $640. This Bonneville will soon be 9 years old (8 now) it should be somewhere near the same price. (right?)

Keep in mind that you are from Michigan. Michigan insurance rates can be pretty high because the rest of the state basically subsidizes Detroit as far as insurance goes. Otherwise, no one in Detroit could afford to drive a car.
BTW, how old are you? Most insurance companies don't treat you like a human being until you are 25 and married.

Once I get my SLE put together full coverage through State Farm will be $94 a month ($564 every 6 months). I've got two tickets in the past three years and 6 in the past 5 years. It'* been 20 months since my last ticket (got caught running 119 mph in my 1992 Bonenville SE trying to get to work on time at New Flyer USA bus company in St. Augusta). Used to make the trip there (50.3 miles one way) in less than 27 minutes running full throttle all the way on I-94.
Oh, back to the last ticket I was lucky he was a decent (make that really nice) officer he wrote me up for 99 in a 70 zone so I didn't have to go to court, jail, and lose my license. Needless to say the next time I saw him (at Perkins in Alex) I paid for his meal as a thanks for sparing my ***.
I paid $126 a month on my old 1992 SE before I turned 21, but when i turned 21 it dropped to $88 a month. Also helps that I have over 50 relatives who have at one or more cars insured through my agent so he doesn't try to give any of us the short end of the stick. He even kept calling me and asking how I was doing and offering advice for taking the guy to court who totalled it with his Jeep (he admitted to me right after he rear-ended me that his front brakes were dead, and I looked at his tires to find every tire with wires showing). Needless to say it was a quick case in court.
On a side note: I'd never get a 2000-newer Bonneville SE. I rented one right after the accident and found it'* ergonomics messed up, and it was really gutless until it got up around 30 mph (1st gear all the way up to 57 mph -wtf???). It might be a decent car with a few mods to liven up the bottom end.
