Keep getting offers to buy me Bonney
I can't figure out what the deal is. lol!
I have a 1992 Bonneville SE - bone stock - not even upgraded wheel package. The clear coat on the wheels is flaking off. It is a very clean low mile car (106K miles), but it has blemishes and dings that are bound to happen to any car driven frequently for 12 years.
Last night, I got home and there was a folded piece of paper stuck in the door. It'* a hand-written note that reads: "Hi, I would like to buy your Bonneville. If you would like to sell it, please call...."
This is the FOURTH time in about 15 months someone has left a note or rang the doorbell wanting to buy my car. What the heck?
I might understand if it were an especially appealling car with some performance goodies and aftermarket accessories, but it is no different from the Bonneville that Avis or Hertz might have used in its rental fleet in 1992.
I've owned a Turbo Regal, RWD Olds Cutlass, GMC Sierra XLT 4x4, and Ford Taurus SHO, all of which were super clean, I've never had a stranger make an unsolicited offer to buy my car!

The transmission was rebuilt 7K miles ago to the tune of $1400. I've replaced the alternator, water pump, exhaust with CAT, wheel hub (LF), struts (plus alignment), brake rotors, wiper motor, plugs, wires, thermostat, hoses, belt, tires, and battery within the last three years. There is no way I'm selling it for anything less than an amount that nobody in their right mind would pay. :P

I think maybe they see the car is very clean and, being 12 years old, the fair market value has bottomed-out, so they're hoping to get a nice used car on the cheap. Not gonna happen.
