That'* always been that way. That includes Microsoft, Motorola and the like.

I would not doubt that when OBDIII is active, we will simply be locked out.
You will need encrypted codes to access anything (ya I know not funny)

Only good until the codes are broken. GM can't change the encryption keys after it leaves the factory without perpetual remote access.

Let me know if I sound paranoid here..
I figure GM'* OnStar can be used to access and reprogram our vehicles on the fly, while we're cruising down Interstate 95 on the way to grannies for Thanksgiving - us not having a clue at the time. And repo guys must love it.. no keys required.
Would you say it'* possible that the electronic components in our vehicles could be pre-programmed from the factory to "fail" at specific intervals? Either hard coded into the vehicle'* module(*), or transmitted to the vehicle at a later date via OnStar?
The actual component wouldn't fail, but the module controlling it would be told to interrupt it'* functioning so as to set a code and cause performance issues.
I'm not sayin' this IS happening. Just askin' if you think it COULD it happen.
Sounds like some crazy movie..

John, the movie "Conspiracy Theory" with Mel Gibson comes to mind, call me paranoid but that'* why I keep one old non-computer non-electronic ignition vehicle like my SS up and running, you know just in case of an EMP or one of the govt acronym agencys gets a hair up its arse.
