Seems like a lot of money, pretty low mileage though for 8 yr old.The upper and lower intakes do seem to be problem on these but it is a crap shoot for when it goes.Could be 50 k or 150 k .Maybe its the area but I paid $7000 for a 2000 ssei (80k though).Try to talk him down.

The Kelly Blue Book retail value for an SSE in California for the standard package is $8540. You can fiddle with options that it may have and enter a correct zip code by going here.

The decision to purchase has to be a personal one. It'* not one that we can make a long distance decision on. The intakes will be a problem sooner or later, unless one of the updated solutions have already been installed. If you haven't read it yet, check out the techinfo article on it.

As JDQ has already mentioned, there is no way of knowing exactly when the intakes will start to leak. With proper maintenance, they can be a very reliable, and enjoyable vehicle.

From what i have seen on this forum most of them go around the 100K mark.
Some have gone around the 50K
If the oil looks good and clean and the Coolant looks nice and orange and doesn't look brown or black then it should be ok. also if you dont see any wetness anywhere on the motor it should be fine also.
And i Say thats a good Deal for that many miles. i would buy it if i had the $ and was out in CA

She'* lying to you. There aren't that many (if any) other interested buyers at that price.
Offer her 1000 less. Walk away if she won't. You'll find another that is better priced. The low miles on it don't really mean anything. These motors last forever.

Yes. BUT. buying a higher mileage car leaves room for someone else to mistreat it along the line. Including interior wear, suspension wear, rattles, etc. I would say go about 500-1k less, but I think its great to find low mileage. Go for it if you want it, otherwise just look for something else.
