:( My 1990 Bonneville, 150 miles short of 200k got crunched Saturday. Damn, it has been a great car I am so bummed. I think I will move to the later model SSEi to get the extra juice this time. Don't know what I will get from the adjuster yet but my car was immaculate and hard to find in that condition. Any input on the best year from say 1993-1996? Don't think I will be able to afford anything newer.

If you're going to get a SSEI.. get a 95 and up.. that'* when they have the series II L67 with M90 supercharger instead of the smaller M62 */C.

Actually, the Series II L67 didn't come out until the '96 model I have a '95 L67 and it is a Series I with the M62. I suspect that if anyone with a '95 SC (SSEi) has a Series II that it was a transplant. I'd love to do that myself!

If I were you, I'd try for that '97 so that you get the good engine AND a good tranny (the 4T65E-HD is better than the 4T60E-HD and wasn't available until the 1997 model year. With 240 Hp, you'll want a good tranny).

I have a 97... had to splurge a bit to get it.. but definitely worth it... I totally forgot about the tranny too...thanx 95. .

'97 was the year the GP got the L67, which was a Series II. The Bonneville got the Series II L67 the year before. However, these are model years which means that production was taking place in '95 for the '96 model year.

Magilla ain't gonna get much for his 90. Doesn't matter what shape it'* in, either. The adjuster just looks around for comparables, and gives you an average. You might dicker up 200 bucks from their offer, but not much more. I just went that route in May with my last totalled car.

Here in Oregon, Most 92-94 SSEi'* or going for $5-10000 bucks depending on miles. The 96/97'* are going to be a bit steeper. If cost becomes an issue, don't hesitate to buy the Series I. I love mine.

Yes, I like mine too. And really, for 15 extra ponies (stock), it may not be worth the extra $$ for the series II. But on the other hand, only you know what you can afford. I know that mods come easier on a Series II. Good luck!

:( Well thanks all for he replies. What happened was a lwoman going the opposite direction made a left hand turn right in front of me and I had nowhere to go. She said she never saw me. I dont carry comp or collision but in a case were it'* her fault, her liability insurance will have to pay. As for value, I know they will try to low ball me, but I should be entitled to the equivilent of what I had and that was a like new, 90 sse. I have found some in auto trader in other states that look good for 4,500-5,000 wich is way over blue book but that if that is what it takes to replace my car I think they will have to pony up. Mine also had custom wheels and fat meats that I should not have to do without. We'll see, it will no doubt be a long painful battle. If I can put together enough for an SSEi it will probably be an earlier one based on price alone. With nearly 200k on my 90' I am not afraid of a used one with half as many.
