Default SES light

One of my friends has a 98? GTP and was having a SES light come on the other day. He finally got over here today and we scanned it. It came up with P0440 Evaporative Emmision Control System Malfunction. We cleared the code and went for a ride but it didn't come back. Any idea what that was, why it happened, or if it will come back?

Mine has done that twice. I caught it once, and it was the charcoal canister solonoid. Missed a cycle. It fixed itself both times. Hard to say for sure, but I've had phantom codes before that never come back.....like cam sensor circuit last week.

Still debating what to do about that. Did they manage to fix the code 41 problem on the 92-99'*?

Whats GM up to???...
We keep GM in business. If it wasn't for some faulty parts, why buy a new car

I saw one nice 97 SSEi today...the only thing I could think of was the dreaded plastic upper intake....not the cam magnet
