I am wanting to know how to fix my driver side so it will stop coming out of the track. So here is a brief description of what I mean, when I go to roll up the window I half to grab a hold of the front part of the window towards the mirror and push on it so it will go back into alignment and not leave a gap when the windows goes up all the way. There is about half of an inch of movement in the windows glass towards the mirror and I really don't think that is a good thing for a window to move that much. So is this something I can do myself or is it a shop only type job. Also all info will be very helpful, the more descriptive the better, Also if anyone may have like any pictures or links to videos on how to due the job, that would be very helpful. Thanks.

First thing, it would be helpful if we knew what vehicle you are having issues with. It helps us if you were to put your make model year etc in your signature.

Something is probably bent or broken in the track system. You would have to pull the door panel off to get a look at the inside. This can usuallh be done with a few common hand tools.

There are usually two points at which the glass is clamped to the window mechanism, and it sounds like one of yours is broken and causing the glass to tip. Pull the door time panel off and take a look. Anything beyond that and we need to know what car you are talking about.

It is on my 96 Oldsmobile Achieva SL with the 3.1 in it. I also have the best tool for door panels, I have one of those door panel tools I bought from my local auto parts store.

I also went in and figured out on how to add a signature and I got that setup.

I will let everyone know later on today what may be wrong with the windows on my driver side because I am gonna be pulling the door panel off and I am gonna see what may be going on. I hope it is something easy to fix because the motor and regulator assemblies are expensive for my car. They run around 100$ because I am having the one on my passenger side front door replaced over the weekend by a good friends because I have no clue on how to due that kind of work.

There should be 2 pinch clamps with rubber liners that clamp the glass to the window mechanism. Make sure the glass is properly position and retained in those clamps. With the door trim panel removed move the glass up and down and observe what is happening. When you put the watershield back on (translucent plastic sheet) you might want to use new butyl (black, sticky as heck) to make sure you don't create a water leak. If so, go to any auto body shop and ask for a roll of the black sticky stuff used to install windshields in older cars. Make sure you rout the butyl on the door inner sheet metal exactly as it was when you took it off. There are drain holes along the bottom of the door you don't want to plug.

Well the bad news. The problem with the window on my driver side is the regulator itself is in really bad shape. But know since I know what the problem is I am needing to know since the motor is good shout I just buy the regulator itself or spend the extra 15 to 20 bucks to but a motor and regulator assembly for the driver side. So what is every ones opinions on that. Yes or no. thanks.

That motor has been fighting a bad regulator. I would replace it.

I can grab the top of the window glass and pull it up and down and there is almost an inch of movement and you can see the arms on the regulator just flopping around. I never knew that a window still would work when they get so bad like mine.
