Starting here with the SSEi. All of the 2000+ models are fairly easy to tell earlier Bonnevilles made. Here is the 2002-03 model with a different SSEi badge, dual exhaust tip outlets are smaller and retro like the 96-99 SSE and SSEi, and rims from the 2000-01 series. It is hard to see the duals though.




Now here is the 2000-01 series SSEi. The rims are different than the 02-03, the badges state "SSEi supercharged" on the doors, and the dual exhausts are bigger on these cars.

Now for the SLE'*. Here we have the 2002-03 SLE. It repeats the SSEi looks as far as the badging, rims, and dual exhaust tips. The badges are SLE with no "Bonneville" underneath the SLE initials like the 2000-01 models.



Here we have the 2000-01 series. This SLE has the Bonneville displayed under the initials and is basically the same as the 2000-01 SSEi.

For the 2000-03 SE'*, I personally don't see a difference except for the front and rear bumpers. Here is a 2001 SE.(ridic2003)

The interiors of all SE, SLE and SSEi..... This is an SE interior and it has a CD and cassette deck, steering wheel controls, the traction control is on thedash next to the cigarette lighter, no compass, standard car driver info, and push button climate control (vent settings)

Another SE interior with no compass, electronic climate control, optional console and underneath the climate controls

SE with no steering wheel control, push button climate control panel, CD and tape deck, and an aftermarket steering wheel cover.

SSEi interior, Heads-up Display, compass, electronic driver information center, console under climate controls, electronic climate control, steering wheel controls, CD and tape deck.

Same as above with visable dual heated seats.

These are the differences of the 92-99 (Lord, please help me out here) SE, SSE, SLE, SLE option package and SSEi motors, interior and exterior. This is the naturally aspirated Series I motor producing 170hp and 220 tq with the black plastic intake manifold.

Here is the same motor but it has an early production aluminum intake manifold.

This is a Series I supercharged motor from the 94-95series producing 225hp and 275tq

This is another supercharged motor but its from the 92-93 series and it has 205hp and 260tq

Here is the naturally asperated Series II motor producing 205hp with 230 ft lb torque.

The interior of a 92 SSEi with the steering wheel that says pontiac on the airbag. CD player, steering wheel controls, Heads-up display, electronic climate control, electronic driver info center, gain switch, compass, and simulated wood grain dash.

Another 92 Bonneville, but an SE. Has the T-neck shifter, ***** for the climate control, steering wheel controls, regular driver info center, tape deck and simulated wood grain dash.

Here an interior of a 93-95 SSEi with all the available options (unsure if it has a tape or CD player) SSEi specific floor mats, 12-way seating in the center console, and all 5 buttons by the shifter. Performance Shift, Normal Shift, Traction Control, Touring Ride and Performance Ride. Also the shifter has a cobra head starting in 94.

Here is the 96-99 SSEi (SSE has the same with the exception of the Performance and Normal Shift buttons) interior and has all options with the exception of the Performance and Normal Ride buttons. In 97, Pontiac discontinued the gain switch and installed Bose ampliers and speakers. The amp is under the radio.

The back of an SLE 98-99 The SLE'* had only 2 badges, unlike the SSE and SSEi where Pontiac had them placed on the front doors and the trunk. The SLE'* were only displayed on the front doors. The 98-99 SLE'* had the SSE-SSEi outside styling with the exception of the outside chrome lining around the doors and windows. The interior for the SLE is still based on the SE'* interior.

Here is the motor that is in the 88-81 SSE. This is the 3800 with 165 hp.

This is the interior of an SSE or SE (if equipped). Here, GM did the amazing thing with the steering wheel controls and put the seek, volume, fan for the climate controls, mute, paly, am/fm, and the fan speed. There was another steering wheel that had buttons on them but not as many though. But GM discontinues the fan speed and the climate control buttons.

Here is the interior of the SE, LE with a tape deck, no steering wheel controls, manual climate control, and cloth seats.

This is the Base Model Bonnie. It has the shifter on the steering wheel, bench seats and a very old aftermarket tape deck.


Here are the door speaker differences. The first one is very rare. I have only seen this one time in reality. 4-speaker system.

The second one comes in the 88-91 SSE or the SE optional. This is the performance package. Some come with 10 speakers and some with 8.

Here is the SE door speaker from the 92-95. This person has the business card clip option instead of the tweeters.

SSEi or SSE or SE speakers. Enough said.

This is the 96-99 SE with the same business card clip instead of the tweeters.

The 96-99 speaker set up with the aftermarket infinity 5 1/4 speaker and factory tweeter.

Here is the front speaker of the 2000+ models for the monsoon 8-speaker system. Even the back doors have speakers in them shown below.



One more difference, have you all noticed the difference in the door panels for the 92-95 models and the 96-99 models? Here they are. The top (92-95) has the screws on the side and on the bottom for those who want an easy installation of the 5 1/4 speakers. The bottom (96-99), if you want to change the speakers, the whole panel has to come off. Easiest way for me to explain those differences.
