dim headlights
wow, I hadn't noticed it before because I'm used to driving the LeSabre, but the lights in my mom'* 95' are DIM! Do any of you other 95 Bonneville owners have a problem with your headlights being REALLY dim? My brother'* 92 lights are o.k., but her lights are absolutely horrible. You can barely see anything at all. What is going on here? (I'm talking about headlights, low and high beam both)

how many miles does the car have on it? with high freeway miles the lenses could be pitted for debris. If nothing else try taking out the assemblies and let a cleaning solution soak inside. Or else try upgrading to piaa type bulb.

If you don't fihd an electrical problem, try using Sylvania Cool Blues or Silver Stars. Both are brighter. I'd be curious to see how the high beams look as well, and to see if it'* not just an aiming problem. Try checking the voltage at the connectors, and comparing them to another car, like the Buick.

she has 78,000 on it, mostly country road driving, the lenses have no covers, and are totally clear. I'll have to check the voltage on them too. I don't think it'* aiming, because they are even dim looking at them from the front, and the fog lights are always on, yes. It'* gotta be an electrical problem or something.. another thing I noticed, is that while the car is running, there is a constant, steady, flickering of all the lights when the car is idling. It'* not a huge flicker, but enough you can notice. The climate control face is what flickers the most (digital display.) Hell, if you turn up her stock radio, the lights dim BAD inside (the lights change in brightness about by 50% when they dim to the music.) That just isn't right. The voltage gauge inside the car is usually close to 15 volts too, so I'm not so sure if it'* a bad alternator, or not?

Many moons ago I was told of this problem and it was based on a problematic lighting system. I also have this problem and it gets better with a new alternator but there is a proper fix I even think it was a recall at one time. Look under Alldata.
I just turn them off and drive on. Squinting and crossing your fingers helps.

> nope, she is still on the origional alternator (that I know of anyway.)

Really??? My '93 SSEi is now on alternator #4, at 109K. Each one lasted several years and several K, then quietly went away. Usually I notice the dash lighting was getting dim, then suddenly discover (_never_ when I'm home; _always_ when I'm stuck in some stupid parking lot in the middle of nowhere) that the car won't start 'cause the battery'* dead...
Get an alternator output test if you haven't already done so...
