I know GM has protective softare for the trannies. I accidentally was at 5000rpm once and put it in gear, and it dropped to 1500rpm and engaged with a very faint slip.
So the 4T80'* are as bad as the 60'* huh? I dont think so. Not the ones from 1999-03 anyway. There are a few members on our board that have a 95 like mine and has 204,000. One guy even has 283,500 on his 1995 -- original transmission. Look -- you are at 200k lakeville and you are on your 3rd. I could probably say the same if that was my car though

A GXP without a HUD? That'* not supposed to be possible. Sure it was the V8?
I've driven one (twice now), and I'm not impressed with the performance. Should have stayed with the L67, and we might still have Bonnevilles in production next year.

GM transmissions arent that bad, and the 4T80E has a proven long term record as a good performer. I'm not having any problems with my mix of FWD and a V8 bolted to a 4T80E.
Its a machine and some machines do fail at ridiculously low mileage, thats why warranties are in place.
I'm sure this new GXP owner whoever they are will be as happy as the day they bought it when the car comes back with a fixed up transmission.
